Richard Butler stated that the Psychedelic Furs began rehearsing in his family's front room, but were soon banished because of the noise.[4] The band was initially called RKO, then Radio. They later vacillated between calling themselves the Europeans and the Psychedelic Furs, playing gigs under both names before permanently settling on the latter.[5] The word psychedelic was chosen to separate the band from punk rockers who ostentatiously scorned the legacy of 1960s rock music.[6]

The Mauskovic Dance Band was assembled by Amsterdam-based producer and multi-instrumentalist, Nicola Mauskovic, who recruited long time friends and collaborators. Like any self-respecting band of musical brothers they took the name, Mauskovic, as their group cognomen: Marnix Mauskovic (guitar, synth, percussion) and Mano Mauskovic (bass), along with Chocolate Space Donnie (vocals, keys, effects). Their unique sound caught the ear of underground Cumbia producer Juan Hundred, who later joined the band on drums.
Entirely self-produced, the band has reiterated their favourite elements of the 70s and 80s legacy of the Afro-Latin psychedelic music of Colombia and Peru, interpreting it through the context of modern day Amsterdam. The output is a lo-fi No Wave groove all its own - rooted in a deep love of champeta, Palenque, psychedelic cumbia, chichi, classic afrobeat and picó soundsystem culture.

Life is a Death Sentence 05:31 buy track about From the rain drenched valley, where star is hidden by coal colored cloud, in a dimly lit room, thick with spore of black mold, the music of Murderbait pervades. Songs written in such landscapes juxtapose with the beautiful, yet perilous woods surrounding, cannot help but to carry darker chambers of the psyche. Allowing, and even embracing such themes, Murderbait sonically entrances as lyrics explore the forgotten or even avoided spaces. Unafraid to wander, beyond the experience of failure, with no hope or need to find the answer, the 4 piece has long slipped the oppressive shackles of genre and resides beyond the wall among the outcasts and exiles. Gladly. Embarking on the album, "We Hold Nothing In Our Hands", with only 4 days to record, the richness of instrumentation relied heavily on the members many years of experience in the studio. With the heavier layers of rhythmic drive, interwoven among glassy melodic ballads, set the foundation for floating overtones of psychedelia and drone, beyond the warmth of vintage style keyboard sounds, overly saturated delayed guitar, silky bass, and dynamically complex percussion; cello, horns, violin, synth, and a small choir graced the stage. The room moves as the music transits the listener to other worlds yet acknowledged. $(".tralbum-about").last().bcTruncate(TruncateProfile.get("tralbum_about"), "more", "less"); credits released April 2, 2016 Recorded and engineered by Victor Nash at Destination:Universe in Portland, ORMastered by Adam Gonsalves at Telegraph in Portland, OR $(".tralbum-credits").last().bcTruncate(TruncateProfile.get("tralbum_long"), "more", "less"); license all rights reserved tags Tags alternative dark doom goth post-punk psychedelic rock Portland Shopping cart total USD Check out about Murderbait Portland, Oregon
